Day 1

Well I definitely lied about weighing. Didn't do it.

But I did sign up for Beach Body On Demand. Admittedly it was a little overwhelming. Sudden access to that many choices - what do you do? The "workout du jour" was Cize Crazy 8s, which I did not choose because I already have the Cize DVDs, and how dumb would that be to sign up for this virtual library and just check out a book I already owned? So. I did not choose Crazy 8s.

I did a lot looking around, and had quite a bit of technical difficulties. Not sure what was up, but I had to re-start my Roku a few times during the morning. I finally decided I just wanted to explore my choices, so I settled on:

10 minutes of Insanity
10 minutes of Brazillian Butt Lift
10 minutes/full workout of Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer Yoga Workout (that was the first one listed; not sure if that's the one you're supposed to do first, but meh.)

Insanity - JESUS H CHRIST, Shaun T. You cannot be serious with that. Admittedly it wasn't the initial plan to only do 10 minutes, but after about 30 seconds, it became the seemingly unattainable goal. When do you catch your breath? Oh, never? Cool. But I made it!

Brazillian Butt Lift - Uh, okay, no. This didn't seem difficult (maybe just in comparison to Insanity?), and it didn't really make any sense to me. The production was weird. He would change the move, but then the shot would just be of part of one of the background women's legs instead of showing you what you were supposed to be doing. Then it kept cutting to some other women outside by a pool doing the moves. I don't know. It was just weird. And yes, the 10 minutes included the warm up, but there weren't very many butt-centric moves. ...at least in the first 10 minutes.

10 Minute Trainer Yoga - It's not Tony Horton's fault I hate yoga. But this really wasn't that bad. I wasn't really expecting Tony to just point at someone else while she did the moves, but it wasn't horrible. I have the flexibility of a brick, though, so hey, maybe that's part of why I hate yoga? Well, anyway. I guess you really can do anything for 10 minutes.

Except Insanity.

Oh. Hello. I guess this is my new blog.

Tomorrow I'm going to acquire a subscription to Beachbody On Demand. I own T25 and Cize, both of which I love, but I need more variety than that. With On Demand, you can choose from a pretty big variety of workouts. There's a free 30 day trial, so I figured that in order to get a real feel for it, I should, like, REALLY DO IT. For the full 30 days (except, you know, with a rest day here and there). I plan to use this cool workout scheduler: https://workoutscheduler.net/hybrid-workout-scheduler/
I won't publish (or share) this until the end, but yes, I have taken before photos. I don't know my weight, and I haven't worked up the nerve to weigh, because whatever that number on the scale is always depresses me. I'd rather just gauge it by how I feel. (But to be honest, I'm going to try to work up to it tomorrow morning. I'll try.)

Anyway. Who am I? Blurg. I'm a 36 year old single lady who works at a brewery and is still not quite an adult. I have been overweight since I was about 4 years old (in old photos, when I was very young I was thin as a rail. Fast forward to about 4 years old and I was suddenly chubby). I was diagnosed earlier this year with PCOS, and when I first went on medication for it, I was finally able to gradually lose weight, but that has slowed. I guess it's also important to mention that not only do I work out pretty frequently, plus I am also vegan. I don't eat any of the foods anymore that I always assumed were what was making me fat. Yet here I am. Still fat. These people who have never had a problem with their weight who like to trot out that "all you have to do is eat less and move more!"thing ...clearly don't know jack shit. Personally, I can keep myself under 1500 calories (despite MyFitnessPal wanting me to have at least 1800+) a day and go running at lunch and work out when I get home and still outweigh my fast-food eating, never work-out coworkers by 70 pounds. This is not a one size fits all thing. All bodies are NOT the same.

Anyway. My goal with this 30 day thing is a) to get awesome, and b) to see some visible results. Stay tuned, friends.
